Pretty pretty revolution

July 15, 2014

I watched this over breakfast this morning – it’s mesmerising and I particularly love how the irises struggle then burst open.

Other people’s blogs

July 10, 2014

I recently went out on a Friday night – that’s pretty unusual for me. I went to the opening of Wunderrama at The Dowse and have finally got around to writing up the experience for The Wellingtonista blog.

Read my blog post here – and go along to the show.

I recently revisited Courtney’s great blog post Dear Competent… I suggest you do too because it’s a great read and particularly relevant if you’re in performance management season like we are at work.

And finally, just to prove not everything on the Internet is good – here’s a recipe for a donut cake. The comments are the best. Hattip to Helen for this link.

Tom’s workmate sent this to him – it seems rude not to share. Click the image to head to the (larger) original.

Hey you, buy this t-shirt

April 16, 2014

Last week I saw a link to this t-shirt on Twitter – it’s designed by someone in Wellington and you can buy it online. Do that here.

It’s from one of those sites where you need x number of people to sign up to buy before the shirt gets printed. It’s past that point now (so will definitely be printed) but I thought I’d mention it here because there’s only a couple of days left to get in on the action.

Addicted to sleeping

January 15, 2014

When my brother came to stay he told me about Sleep Time – an app he uses. I rarely struggle with sleep (more with being awake) but thought I’d use it for a lark.

It’s super interesting – I’ve used it for three nights and find it quite novel to see when my light and deep sleep phases are and when I’m awake. It also tells you how efficient your sleep as been.

The most important thing about it is that it wakes you up (within 30 minutes of when you set your alarm) during a phase of sleep that won’t leave you groggy and blah.

The app is free and my whole team at work is using it now. Tom thinks it’s complete bollox and realistically I’ll probably grow bored of it soon but for now it’s fun.

Here’s some more information about it.
