The metropolis of Shibuya is just one train stop from our apartment so that’s where we headed today.
We found the excellent 101 Things to do in Shibuya brochure in our apartment so went armed with that and some ideas from the Hello Sandwich Tokyo Guide.
This is the famous scramble crossing right outside Shibuya Station. Despite it being Sunday there were people everywhere!
We started the day at Viron Bakery for their recommended set menu – generous lashings of baguettes, pastries, jam and coffee for about $15 each. So much pastry that we had to take some away.
Next up was shopping – Toyku Hands, Parco, a fabric shop, comic shop and pottering around alleyways.
This is Wrapple – a cool shop of wrapping paper, bags and tapes.
A big bookstore – at one point I suddenly realised I could read the titles (I was in the English section).
There’s always heaps to look at – I have to actively try to keep my mouth closed!
Red glitter Doc Martins! (In some tiny size).
If you know what’s happening in the photo above then you’re doing better than we are.
And finally – I feel my day can be perfectly summed up by the following photo. It’s a man on the Shibuya subway carrying a dog in a bag and the dog is wearing glasses.
We love you Japan!
