There’s many things in life that it’s easy to take for granted, which I was reminded of when I got an email from my friend Shumin this morning. She – and some of her family members – have set up a New Zealand chapter of Days for Girls – a charity that provides cleverly designed reusable feminine hygiene kits to women in poor countries. She asked me to tell you about it.
As part of their work they’re going to have a stall this Sunday at Palmerston North’s Esplanade Day.
Esplanade Day sounds like a lot of fun – one of those great summer activities with food stalls, entertainment, cultural activities and a day out in the sun. The Esplanade also has a tiny train that you can ride around through the forest, which provides endless good times for young and old.
If you do pop along make sure you say hello to Days for Girls and see how you can help them. If you can’t be in Palmerston North this weekend then here’s some other things you can do:
- ‘Like’ their Facebook page so their message is heard
- If you can sew then you can use your skills to help
- Make a donation online
- Share this blog post with someone else so they hear about this charity too
