Tom and I had been going out for six months when he asked me to marry him at the end of a pier in Picton.

Ten years ago at 12noon we were married under a historic tree in my parents front garden.

Usually we celebrate our anniversaries with the amount of fanfare of our everyday lives but tonight we’re breaking from tradition and going to Wendy Campbell’s French Bistro in Martinborough.* I’m hoping for a relaxing evening with great food and wine.

Since we’re both still on holiday though this also means ironing a shirt (Tom) and putting on real shoes (me) for the first time since 15 December.

*Just so you know, our neighbour owns a shotgun (in case this information means you’re now thinking about breaking into our house).

At the moment Tom is organising all our books and yesterday I got out ‘The Art of Looking Sideways’ that you gave us for our wedding. Such a great present and I still find pages I haven’t read.
