An art opening: tonight in Featherston

Tonight in Featherston at 8pm there’s an art opening – the sort of event that occurs but once a year. It’s being held on the main street, across the road from the supermarket, next to the Craft Country shop.

The Off the Wall exhibition gathers together an eclectic range of work from artists working in the Wairarapa and the surrounding regions. And there is range of work to suit any taste or price including paintings, photography, printmaking, light relief and mixed media works.

The exhibition is kindly supported by the South Wairarapa Creative Communities Funding Scheme with nibbles kindly donated by Ulli Reinartz and Dean Davies of Guten Appetit Catering and the Royal Hotel.

All commission from the sale of art works (25 percent) will be donated by the artists to the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

Although the exhibition runs until August come along tonight.

And if you need another reason then it’s pizza night on Thursdays at Cornucopia (our local cafe/deli) and I’m pretty sure it’s burger night at The Royal Hotel. Whatever it is, The Royal is always good for great food and a cold drink.
