Round the vines

Vynfields Winery, Martinborough

Although Tom and I have lived in Featherston for almost four years, I’ve never been to any of the Martinborough vineyards. Mostly I go to Martinborough to visit the Thrive shop or Mitre 10 (often in my gumboots) so it was great to see why most people go to Martinborough.

We visited four vineyards (I was the driver) tasting (Dad and Grandma) about five or six wines at each location. We learnt a lot about wine, tasting some new varieties to us and learnt that if you want to sell your wine then it really helps to employee good people that can create a great experience.

Stand outs for us were the Pinot Noir and dessert wine at Schubert wines (along with the great service) and the atmosphere and wonderful platter-lunch and wine tasting at Vynfields Winery (above). We ate our lunch in a lounge with nice old furniture and an open fire with a ginger cat roaming around. I’ll definitely return to Vynfields again and thought it was probably the perfect location to also take Mum, Julie or Matthew when they next visit too.

Good. Although maybe one time after next since I’ll be laid up. 😦
